The feedback on a new format for the bi-annual membership meeting was positive. We had a chance to meet everyone, share a cup of coffee and kolaches before the meeting. The bylaws change was approved  and the new seawall discussed. We announced that Allen Pritchard has resigned from the board due to work commitments. Per the bylaws, a member is appointed by the president to fill out the remainder of the term. Jean Calkins was appointed to this position. Welcome to Jean!

We also reviewed the progress we’ve made in the past 6 months:

  • Seawall addition complete
  • Sinking fund established for financing of long term park projects
  • Pavilion Bldg clean-out and clean up, inside and out; powerwashed
  • Park signs repainted
  • Park benches restained
  • Pier grate installed at shoreline
  • Park sign area landscaped
  • Fence erected between Loon Bay and Harbor Point POAs
  • Ten on Tuesday program established in Harbor Point first; now a citywide program
  • Yard of the Month expanded to monthly year-round program
  • Holiday Lights contest was a great success!
  • Neighborhood Watch monthly programs
  • Ladies Lunch Bunch continues to grow
  • Streamlined processes for member database, renewals and email list

Thanks for a great meeting and member support.

After the meeting, the gate code was to be changed. However, due to lock problems, this was delayed until Sunday. Thanks to Rick Parker and Bob Cassady for repairing the lock!

The new code was included on the meeting post card sent to all paid up members.

April Yard of the Month

Our Yard of the Month is the Anderson family home on Windjammer.  Their well manicured landscape  is one of the first you see upon entering Harbor Point from the main entrance, and it is always neat as a pin. And we love the Texas  wrought iron on the fence!

Park PerkUp Day!

Our Park PerkUp day was a great success! Our signs have been repainted, the benches have a new dark stain and sealer coat, and the pavilion’s been power washed. You’ll also notice that the landscaping has been reenergized for the spring, and new green trash bins are in just-painted holders. There is also a new metal grate where the pier meets land.

Thanks to the sixteen volunteers that participated in this project to spiff up our park!

Congratulations to Phil and Janis Carnahan on Admiral Drive for their Yard of the Month award. Their home near the park has undergone a major transformation and is looking more beautiful all the time!

mar 2013 YOTM

We just completed a joint project with the Loon Bay POA to fence across a lot that connects our two subdivisions. It’s been used as an unauthorized cut-through from Commodore in our subdivision to Loon Bay.

The two POAs split material costs and we pitched in to  volunteer labor for the installation work.  Harry McCune, president of the Loon Bay POA, found a great deal on Craig’s List ($80) for all of the material!

Thanks to HPPOA volunteers Rick Vannett, Denny Bray and Rich Casey who worked alongside three volunteers from Loon Bay.
